| Hello, my name is Yvonne Ewing and I am player/manager of the Scotland Ladies International Pool Team. This is a brief synopsis of the team and our achievements to date. Thanks to Elaine Campbell for building and maintaining the site and of course Steenie, our webmaster, thanks ladies your hard work is greatly appreciated. |
Welcome to scottishladiespool.com the official site of the Scotland Ladies International Pool Team. We are representatives of the Scottish Pool Association (www.scottishpool.com) and are a self funding and highly successful outfit. I have listed below our team honours since I took over as Manager in 1996. |
A TEAM World 11 Person Team Champions: 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 & 2008 World 5 Person Team Champions: 2006 European Team Champions: 1997 & 1998 Nations Cup Team Champions: 1997, 1998 & 2004 B TEAM World 11 Person Team Champions 2007 European Team Champions 2009 |
The Scotland Ladies Pool Team were the first and remain the only team to win the “Grand Slam”, holding all three titles at the same time, we managed this tremendous feat in 1997 & 1998, something I remain extremely proud of. We are the current holders of the World 11 Person and Nations Cup Team Championships. In our ranks we have the current Nations Cup Champion (Yvonne Ewing) and British Ladies Singles Champion (Linda Gillies). Our players are regularly at the business end of competitions and in terms of ladies pool Scotland Ladies are a major force and can be heard anywhere we play. |
We have just returned from the spectacular Villa Marina in the Isle of Man after competing in the European Team Championships where Team Scotland were very successful. Our A team were unfortunately defeated by Wales in the final of their competition, this after going through the group stage undefeated. We were crowned 2009 European Ladies A Speedpool Champions after the team of Linda Gillies, Denise Laing, Shona Lucas and Yvonne Ewing defeated France in this final. Our ladies B1 team were crowned champions after a fantastic display in the final against Wales, congratulations Kim Black, Gillian Hayes, Diane Colville, Kathy Paton, Vandana Hegde, Laura Colquhoun & Louise Hillman, 2009 European B Team Champions. The ladies B2 team reached the semi final of the B competition, a fantastic achievement as they had to defeat England B1, who a re the current B team World Champions to reach this stage, well done girls, you are all a credit to scottish pool. Our next event is the World Masters in Bridlington (April 2010), this consists of seven person ladies teams in three categories, Ladies A, Ladies B1 & Ladies B2. The event lasts a week and I have high hopes of a successful competition for all our teams attending. |
| I also endeavour to post all information on ladies pool events/competitions/trials on the forums so please register as required and get posting, a ladies pool community is something I feel is required in the UK and Europe and would welcome female players from anywhere in the World. |
We also have a ladies pool series, sponsored by Jacques in association with Riley Clubs in Scotland. There are two events remaining in this series; 31st October & 5th December. Further details are available in the forums or by contacting me via the email assistant. |
